Louie’s Sporting Goods, now operating one location at Manitowoc, WI, will close on December 23, according to a report from WBAY.com.

Louie’s Sporting Goods has had a presence in Northeast Wisconsin since 1940 and had four stores in the 1980s soon after Bob Elliott acquired the location from its original owner Louie Stangel. Bruce Elliott, his son, is the current owner of the business.

Elliott, who is retiring, told WBAY.com that Louie’s Sporting Goods has faced pressures from big-box chains over the years, but online competition has been particularly challenging for the retailer in recent years.
