Longworth Industries, manufacturer of Polarmax, AYG and XGO branded apparel, has created over 500 blankets to be donated to Japanese earthquake victims. Arrangements were made to manufacture and rush blankets to production to aid ongoing relief efforts within days of the disaster.

The blankets were made of technical Comp 4 and Quattro Fleece fabrics to provide victims with the best warmth, comfort, and protection in their time of need.  Efforts to distribute relief goods were coordinated through the MERCI Mission Center of Goldsboro, NC, a relief arm of UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). Donations are scheduled to be shipped upon approval from the Japanese Government.

“Longworth Industries is glad we are in a position to reach out to the people of Japan and sympathize with their situation and the uncertainties they currently face,” said Grace Purvis, Human Resources Manager for Longworth. “It is with great compassion and empathy we offer this relatively small contribution.”

All Longworth employees, from warehousing, to cut and sew, finished goods and distribution, are proudly involved with this effort.  As a company, Longworth is committed to making our environment, locally and globally, a better place to call home. Last February Longworth donated over $40,000 in product to Haitian earthquake relief efforts.
