Lew's, the maker of reels and rods based in Springfield, MO, announced that seasoned outdoor industry executive Gary Remensnyder has joined the company and will assume the role of president, effective immediately.

Remensnyder brings to Lew's more than 16 years of related industry experience, 13 of which were spent helping to build the Shakespeare, Ugly Stik and Pflueger brands, among others.

In making the announcement, Lew's CEO Lynn Reeves said, “I've worked with Gary for over 10 years in building businesses and brands together in the fishing industry. His leadership style is a perfect fit for the culture we are developing for the new Lew's.”

Reeves further explained that Remensynder will concentrate on driving the sales, marketing and the financial planning efforts of the company during the next few months, allowing him to continue to focus on developing the all-new generation of Lew's products and to oversee the day-to-day operations of their Springfield facilities.

“Our respective strengths make us a great team to lead this company to new heights to the benefit of anglers and the fishing tackle trade,” Reeves added.

“Lynn has a great vision for the future of the Lew's brand,” said Remensnyder. “I am so pleased to have the opportunity to work with him and the entire Lew's team to help rebuild what is a great American fishing tradition. Our goal is to be true to the heritage of the brand founded by the legendary Lew Childre, building quality and innovation into our products just like he did, while also providing outstanding service and value to our customers.”

Lew's was originally founded in the 1950s. Reeves acquired the Lew's name and many affiliated trademarks, including Speed Spool, Speed Spin, Laser and Speed Stick from the Lew Childre family in 2008.
