Kinetic, a maker in cycling trainers, announced its sponsorship of triathlete Kevin Collington, the reigning Ironman 70.3 U.S. Pro Champion. The agreement is in place for two years.

Collington, whose 2013 season ended abruptly due to a broken ankle, says his deal with Kinetic came at the perfect time. “Thanks to the Rock and Roll trainer, I was back on my bike just four weeks after my injury, and completing intervals in eight weeks. It's awesome to have Kinetic as my sponsor this year.”

Prior to his ankle injury, the 29-year-old Collington had a banner 2013. He completed ten races, including the HyVee 5150 Des Moines, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas, and the U.S. Championship in St. George, UT. He earned podium spots in five of his ten starts.

“2013 was Kevin's first year competing in long-distance events – and his worst finish was eighth place,” said Kinetic Marketing Manager David Simpson. “We're really looking forward to seeing what he accomplishes in 2014, and we're proud to be a part of his support team.”

Kinetic has equipped the Boulder-based Collington with its Rock and Roll, the only trainer that simulates the feel of balancing and riding a bike outside on pavement, and its inRide, Bluetooth Smart™ trainer-based watt meter system.

This Saturday's Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Oceanside, California will be his first official race since the injury. As with its sponsorship announcement of Ironman Hawaii World Champion Frederik Van Lierde earlier this month, Kinetic is celebrating Collington's sponsorship with another trainer giveaway.

The triathlon fan who comes the closest to guessing Collington's total bike time at Oceanside will win a Kinetic Rock and Roll trainer, turntable riser ring and trainer mat.

Fans wanting to participate in the contest can go to the Kevin Collington contest page at www.kurtkinetic.com/guessmytime, enter a time, “Like” Kinetic's Facebook page, and “Like” Kevin's new Facebook page. All entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) Friday, March 28. Multiple correct answers will go into a random drawing for the winner, which will be announced Tuesday, April 1.
