Kenny Ballard, the president of Boulder Outdoor Specialty Group (BOSG), will resign at the end of October. BOSG distributes the Kelty, Sierra Design, Slumberjack, Wenger and Ultimate Direction brands. Ballard has decided to return east with his wife so they can live closer to their parents.

 

“Kenny has moved on,” confirmed Scott Kaier of Pale Morning Media, which handles public relations for BOSG. “He has left in good standing. It was a personal decision as his parents are getting older and he decided to move back east to be closer to them. “

 

Ballard, who was on vacation last week, will remain in his role through the end of October to ensure a smooth transtion at BOSG. He will be working from the offices of sister company Isis for Women in Burlington, VT.

Ballard joined Kelty in 2000 as national sales manager. In October, 2002, he was promoted to director of sales, and became president in January 2005. Prior to joining Kelty, Ballard's experience in the outdoor industry included work at Mad River Canoe as the national sales and brand manager, at Moonstone Mountaineering as the director of sales, and at Montbell America as the director of sales and marketing.

BOSG, Isis and Royal Robbins are all units of St. Louis-based American Recreation Products, which is itself owned by the private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc.
