Kellwood has elected Robert J. Baer and Harvey A. Weinberg to the Companys Board of Directors, according to Hal J. Upbin, chairman and chief executive officer.
Baer is a seasoned executive in the transportation industry with over 28 years of experience. He is
currently the chairman of the St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District and president emeritus of UniGroup, Inc.
During his tenure at UniGroup, he most recently was president and chief operating officer and spent 25 years
as the top operating executive. Through his career, Baer was chairman of both the American Moving and
Storage Association, and the Household Goods Carriers Bureau.
Baer has also been very involved in the St.
Louis Community. From 1990 to 1996, he chaired the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex
Authority. He is past president of the City of St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners and is an emeritus
member of Civic Progress. Baers civic achievements led to his receipt of the John H. Poelker Award for
Public Service from CORO Midwestern Foundation and the Downtown St. Louis, Inc. Levee Stone Award. The
American Moving and Storage Association also honored him in 1999 with the organizations Distinguished
Service Award.
He holds bachelors and masters degrees from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville
and in 1992 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Maryville University in St. Louis.
Weinberg has over 35 years experience in the apparel industry as both a retailer and manufacturer.
He spent 25 years at Hartmarx Corporation in various executive positions, the last five of which he was
chairman and chief executive officer. Currently, he is a private investor and serves on the Board of Directors
of Syms and R.G. Barry Corporation. He also serves on the Deans Advisory Board of the J.L. Kellogg
Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and is an Academic Director in Kelloggs
Executive Development Program. Weinberg is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in
Marketing and Business Administration.
“Both Bob and Harvey will complement our existing Board. Harveys extensive background in fashion
will be an asset to our governing board as Kellwood continues to grow and Bobs involvement in St. Louis
affairs helps continue the sense of community already present at Kellwood corporate headquarters,” said
Upbin. The new additions bring a total of 7 independent directors on Kellwoods ten-member Board.
