Kane Footwear, a manufacturer of recovery footwear founded in 2021, reported it received B Corp. Certification with a score of 84.3.
To become B Corp. Certified, companies must have a score of at least 80, which ensures accountability of all stakeholders in the company and to have its performance publicly available on its site.
Kane noted in a release that it prioritizes using environmentally-friendly materials in its footwear and manufacturing best practices that align with its sustainability goals.
The company launched its Revive recovery slip-on with RestoreFoam, a material made predominately from Brazilian sugarcane. “Natural sugarcane ethanol is dehydrated to make its plant-based EVA foam, which stores the carbon sequestered during the sugarcane’s growth process, making it a carbon-negative material,” said the company.
“Since our launch, we’ve been working towards becoming a Certified B Corp.,” John Gagliardi, founder and CEO, said. “I’ve always admired that the B Corp. Certification works to quantify the overall good that a company is doing. They look across social and environmental qualifications to see the broad picture of a company’s impact. We’re thrilled to join a host of companies prioritizing making a positive impact on the world.”
Kane Footwear partners with 1% For the Planet, uses FSC-certified packaging and is working to become Climate Neutral Certified.
