Judge Delays Steve and Barry’s Auction Date

In the latest development regarding Steve & Barry’s bankruptcy filing, a judge has delayed the auction date by two weeks.

 

According to published reports, Judge Allan L. Gropper, the bankruptcy judge presiding over the case, said he wouldn’t sign off on the proposed auction until a committee was appointed to represent “unsecured creditors.” Steve & Barry’s is currently searching for buyers or financial partners to avoid liquidation.

Steve & Barry's has delayed its auction date to August 12. The retailer, which filed for bankruptcy on July 9, originally was looking to sell the company's assets at an auction on July 29, but the bankruptcy judge presiding over the case, Judge Allan L. Gropper, postponed the date by two weeks, according to court documents. Steve & Barry's is looking for search for buyers or financial partners to avoid liquidation.
