Winter apparel, backcountry gear and snowboard brand Jones Snowboards announced it has hired Josh Nielsen as Marketing Director. Nielsen is an outdoor industry veteran with 20 years in brand marketing, film production and community-centric sports marketing.
Founded in 2009 by professional snowboarder and environmentalist Jeremy Jones, the company recently expanded its product line to include snowboards, splitboards, backcountry accessories, and technical winter outerwear.
Nielsen will draw on his experience working as senior director of global marketing for Patagonia and production director for Teton Gravity Research to oversee the marketing of Jones’ outerwear collection and hardgoods lines.
“I have always held Jones in the highest regard for its commitment to sustainability and its service to the snowboard community,” said Nielsen. “Jones’ approach to developing innovative hardgoods with a focus on environmental footprint reduction has been impressive. It’s great to see those same design values at work as the company expands into technical outerwear.”
“Josh and I go back to the early days of TGR and have spent a lot of time in the mountains and the editing bay together,” said Jones. “I’ve had a front-row seat watching the evolution of his career and have always wanted to work with him again. He is the perfect person to help Jones develop a more globally unified and integrated marketing message that embodies Jones’ ethos of living responsibly and giving back to our community.”
