Johnston & Murphy launched a new golf shoe after nearly 20 years from its last entree in the category.

In the 1920s, the brand launched its first golf shoe and found success in the ’70s and ’80s when Arnold Palmer became the official ambassador for the brand. Ken Venturi, Hale Irwin, Gene Littler, and Greg Norman were among other pro golfers aligned with the brand at the time, according to Golf Digest.

In a statement, Johnston & Murphy said the return has come as ‘Golf has become more popular during the pandemic. It’s a nearly perfect social distancing sport since it is easy for players to remain six feet apart. Plus, the game is played in the great outdoors.”

The hybrid golf footwear line will drop at retail timed with the launch of a small apparel collection to complement the golf shoes. The assortment will be sold at Johnston & Murphy stores and the brand’s website.
