Johnson Outdoors, Inc. reported that total company net sales in the third quarter declined 8 percent to $172.5 million compared to $187.0 million in the prior-year third fiscal quarter.

Gross margin was 35.8 percent, or net sales for the third quarter, compared to 41.5 percent in the prior-year Q3 period. 

Operating expenses of $62.3 million increased $2.2 million from the prior-year period.

Net income was $1.6 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, versus $14.8 million, or $1.44 per diluted share in the prior-year third quarter.
