Russell Corporation announced that Thomas Johnson has resigned his position as director of investor relations. Johnson will be joining Movie Gallery as senior vice president for investor relations.
“We have benefited from Thomas' strong background in investor relations and his work in the securities industry,” said Jack Ward, chairman and CEO. “We are pleased that he has agreed to stay with Russell through March to finalize our annual report and insure a smooth transition.”
Martie Zakas, vice president and treasurer, will assume the additional investor relations duties until the vacancy is filled. Zakas previously had been with Equifax Inc. in Atlanta where she was a corporate vice president, corporate secretary and director of investor relations. Prior to Equifax, Zakas served as director of competitive strategy and director of franchise funding for Holiday Inn Worldwide in Atlanta for two years. She was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Company in New York from 1984 until 1991 and was a vice president in capital market services her last three years there.
The company has engaged Russell Reynolds to assist in recruiting a replacement for Johnson.
