Jelenew, the women’s cycling apparel brand, partnered with Christelle Kocher, artistic director at Chanel’s atelier, Maison Lemarie, to create a performance sportswear collection using the latest design and craftsmanship from Chanel haute couture and integrating it into a fashion and sports series for the brand.
The Jelenew x Kocher apparel collection also draws inspiration from the autobiography of female aviator Beryl Markham, West with the Night. Like cycling, “flying is an experience that blends the grandeur of nature with the excitement of speed. Jelenew believes this courage to explore is the fulcrum for people to find balance with their external environment and relationships,” said Jelenew.
Using Jelenew’s proprietary CurveTec technology, the collection incorporates deep browns, greens and oranges from the African landscape and incorporates black, white and grey contrasts.
Kocher’s rise work in haute couture comes from both her artistry and a deep understanding of the luxury industry. She honed her skills at prestigious fashion houses, including Bottega Veneta and Dries Van Noten. In 2010, she joined Chanel as the Artistic Director at Maison Lemarie, mixing her passion for sports with her runway collections. In 2022, her brand KOCHÉ teamed up with sports teams and sports brands to create a collection that upcycled fabrics and prints to redesign, cut, sew, and embellish the garment, to become luxury pieces with an athleisure touch.
