JD Sports Fashion, the UK retailer, said it expects to beat market expectations for full-year profit after reporting strong trading over the key Christmas period. For the five weeks to Jan. 2, the group said like-for-like sales were up by 6.6%, while 48-week sales were up 2.7%.
“The extent to which this occurs is still dependent on the impact of the prevailing severe weather conditions in the UK,” the group said in a statement on Thursday.
JD Sports said UK retail gross profit margins over the full period had improved marginally compared to the previous year.
