JanSport co-founder, Skip Yowell, was inducted into the Great Bend High School Hall of Fame in Great Bend, Kansas. Yowell is one of three honorees to be inducted into the High School’s first Hall of Fame class.

The official ceremony will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Bend High School gymnasium with a free public reception to follow at 9:30 p.m. in the school’s Jack Kilby Commons.

“Great Bend High School has been a positive influence on my life and my future life in so many different ways,” said Skip Yowell, Co-founder of JanSport. “My experiences there helped shape who I am today, both professionally and personally, and I am humbly honored by this award.”

Others honored posthumously will be Jack Kilby, inventor of the integrated circuit and 2000 recipient of the Nobel Prize in physics; and John Keller, 1952 Olympic gold medalist for basketball and long-time GBHS coach.

“Skip was our top choice,” said David Meter, Athletic Director at Great Bend High School. “Throughout his successful career he has made an impressive impact and contribution from a community, state and worldwide level and we are proud to honor him.”
