Indigo Equipment has retained three new sales representatives to cover two important territories, New England and the Pacific Northwest.

In New England, Indigo hired Velocity Sales, founded by partners Michael Schmidt and Bill Bruzzese, to represent the growing Indigo brand in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maine.

In the Pacific Northwest, Indigo added Mike Burns to cover Northern California, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Burns was hired in conjunction with the Alta Group, which also covers Washington, Alaska and British Columbia for Indigo.

Before starting Velocity Sales, Schmidt and Bruzzese both worked at Tubbs Snowshoes, where Schmidt was the North American Sales director and Bruzzese oversaw new product launches. Under Schmidt’s leadership and tenure at Tubbs, sales revenue increased more than 135 percent and he managed sales budgets in excess of $10 million. As Buyer and Operational Planner, Bruzzese was responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with more than 50 suppliers, sourcing material and conducting market research. Both are avid outdoorsmen.

Burns comes to Indigo and the Alta Group from Feathered Friends, a Seattle specialty outdoor shop, where he oversaw point-of-sale systems, among many other roles. Burns holds degree in information technology and computer network systems and is a longtime climber and outdoorsman. He has also been very involved with the Mountaineers, a Seattle based climbing club with thousands of members. At the Mountaineers, Burns has served as an instructor, climbing committee member and chair of the leadership community.

“These are important territories for Indigo Equipment as we grow the brand and branch out into new products,” said Indigo President Steve Kropf. “With these three hires, we know we’ve brought on people to represent Indigo who are not only well respected in the industry, but who know their territories and bring integrity to their day-to-day business dealings.”

Velocity Sales also represents K2 telemark skis, Garmont, Jetboil and Nikwax. The Alta Group also represents Atomic nordic and telemark skis, Petzl and Sea to Summit.
