ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. plans to consolidate its Clearfield, Utah manufacturing facility with its existing facility and company headquarters in Logan, Utah, effective March 16. According to Colleen Logan, spokeswoman for ICON, the company implemented lean manufacturing practices at Logan facility and that has allowed the company to end operations at Clearfield.
“It is ICONs intent to employ as many of the Clearfield production employees, who are willing to transfer to the Logan facility, as possible,” said Doug Younker, ICONs director of human resources. Younker noted that after the transfer of current Clearfield manufacturing employees to ICONs Logan facility, the closure of the Clearfield plant would eliminate about 250 full-time jobs. On the flip side, the expansion at the Logan facility will open 200 new positions there.
Colleen Logan went on to say that the company hopes employees from the Clearfield facility will transfer to Logan and in return will be offered $1,000 bonuses.
