Hydro Flask announced that Scott Allan will retire as global general manager for the brand. Allan’s retirement will take effect on March 1, 2020.

Allan was named president and CEO of Hydro Flask in 2012, and has served as general manager since 2016, when he led Hydro Flask through its acquisition by Helen of Troy. Under his leadership, the company has been twice named to the Inc. 500 List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America, recognized as one of Outside magazine’s Best Places to Work and awarded REI’s Action Sports Vendor Partner of the Year. Allan was also named EY Entrepreneur of the Year of the Pacific Northwest in 2015.

“I will always be grateful for the opportunity Hydro Flask has given me to build a special brand alongside our extremely talented team, which I consider my career highlight,” said Allan. “Hydro Flask’s continued growth and industry leadership is a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of our people, our firm dedication to our products and the relentless pursuit of our mission to save the world from lukewarm by inspiring heathier, happier, more sustainable lives outdoors. I’m honored to have been part of this incredible ride and look forward to my next chapter, fully confident that Hydro Flask is in good hands.”

Hydro Flask will not be appointing a replacement for Allan, whose duties will be distributed among Helen of Troy Housewares divisional leadership, several who were part of the original Hydro Flask leadership team, as part of a detailed transition plan set in place last year. The Hydro Flask brand and team will remain in its hometown of Bend, OR.

“Scott’s strategic vision, leadership and commitment to the authentic soul of this brand have been the driving forces behind Hydro Flask’s exceptional growth,” said Larry Witt, president of Helen of Troy’s Housewares division. “From the beginning, he has cultivated a team culture rooted in the spirit of the Pacific Northwest that not only inspires Hydro Flask’s innovative products, but also champions a more conscious outdoor footprint. We’re thankful for his many contributions and know he will be greatly missed.”

Allan will continue to have a presence in the outdoor industry. Currently, he serves on the board of directors for fellow outdoor brands Cairn and Rumpl, as well as the Oregon State University – Cascades Advocacy and Advisory Board. Apart from his industry involvement, Allan plans to travel and take full advantage of the outdoor activities in Bend.
