Jim Walmsley, a recent addition to the Hoka One One (NYSE: DECK) elite running roster, set a new Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim trail run. Walmsley completed the 42-mile trek, from the South Rim to North Rim and back, in 5:55:20, averaging an 8:27 per mile pace over almost 20,000 feet of elevation change.

Walmsley, a 26-year-old who hails from Flagstaff, AZ, beat the previous FKT time of 6:21:47 set by Rob Krar in 2013. “The Grand Canyon is like a second home to me,” said Walmsley. “As we celebrate the National Park Service centennial I’m excited to write my part in the history books of the Grand Canyon and celebrate this incredible place.”

“We are so proud of Jim and his accomplishment,” said Mike McManus, Hoka senior sports marketing manager. “The team at Hoka is excited to support athletes like Jim who are pushing the boundaries of running.”

Walmsey is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, where he ran track and cross-country. He won the 2014 JFK 50-mile race in Maryland, and went on to win six consecutive U.S ultramarathons. Walmsley’s titles this year include Lake Sonoma 50-Miler, Mesquite Canyon 50k, Moab’s Red Hot 55k and Bandera 100k.
