Hoka One One, a division of Deckers Brands, has bolstered its athlete roster with the signing of triathlete Kirsten Kasper and ultrarunner Tim Freriks.
“Both Kirsten and Tim have made waves and demonstrated even bigger potential on the world stage of triathlon and trail ultrarunning, respectively,” said Mike McManus, senior sports marketing manager at Hoka One One. “We are thrilled to have them on the roster as they work to become some of the very best in their sports.”
Currently ranked third in the World Triathlon Series, Kasper is a member of the winning 2016 World Championship mixed team relay. She was named as both the 2014 USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year and as an alternate for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games team. Her goal is to make the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team. Kasper will race in the World Triathlon Series on July 15 in Hamburg, Germany, followed by races in Edmonton on July 29, Montreal on August 5, and at the Huelva World Cup on September 24. She ran collegiately at Georgetown University, where she was a member of the 2011 national champion cross country team, and boasts PRs of 4:44 for the mile and 16:13 for the 5K.
Breaking onto the ultra scene with a strong runner-up performance at the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile in 2016, Freriks further shook the ultra world by taking down a world-class field at Transvulcania, a grueling 73.3K skyrace on Spain’s La Palma Island, in May. Prior to racing trails, Freriks ran track at Northern Arizona University, where he ran as fast as 14:03 for the 5K and 29:31 for the 10K. Currently based in Flagstaff, Arizona, Freriks is slated to race at Broken Arrow 52K on June 17, Run Rabbit Run 100-Miler on September 8, and The North Face 50 Mile in San Francisco on November 18.
