Helly Hansen announced it has partnered with Squamish Search and Rescue (SSAR) as the organization’s official apparel partner. The partnership is in addition to the list of partnerships the brand has with other search and rescue teams worldwide.
“Working with professionals is at the core of our business and partnering with Squamish SAR shows our commitment to their important work in the outdoor community,” said Philip Tavell, HH category managing director, Mountain. “This partnership enables us to work closely with all their amazing members and use their knowledge and unique insights to innovate and create professional-grade outdoor products.”
Operating in Canada, SSAR is a community-based organization bringing a diverse group of volunteers together, spanning a multitude of technical backgrounds. They perform swift water, high-alpine avalanche, mountaineering, rock climbing, and mountain bike rescues. With a response area extending from Porteau Cove to the southern boundary of Whistler and Squamish Valley, the SSAR team is exposed to backcountry conditions with a high potential for incidence. Helly Hansen will outfit the team in a uniform kit that includes outerwear, mid-layer, baselayer, accessories, and footwear.
In working with SSAR, Helly Hansen intends to increase the visibility and knowledge of the group globally. “Squamish Search and Rescue is excited to be partnering with Helly Hansen for our team’s apparel needs,” said Cindy Welsh, director, SSAR. “We chose Helly Hansen not only for the performance of their apparel but, like us, they are committed to ongoing education around safety and preparedness in the mountain environment globally. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Helly Hansen as our team starts fundraising efforts for a new operational building for Squamish Search and Rescue.”
