Thanks to dozens of posts to the company's Facebook fan page, Heelys, Inc. said Camp Quality USA will
be awarded $101,010 worth of shoes – over 2,000 pairs of shoes – in
2011. Camp Quality USA will distribute the gift to children engaged with
the charity in the 15 camps it operates across the country.

Heelys said it had announced, just days before
Oct. 10 (10/10/10), that it would be giving away $101,010 worth of shoes
to the charity with the most nominations via its Facebook fan page.
From October 10 through the end of November 2010, fans who suggested
charities via Facebook determined the winner. According to Heelys, a
number of charities were nominated, but Camp Quality USA stood out with
an overwhelming response.

“We are delighted that Heelys and its Facebook fans selected the children of Camp Quality USA as recipients of its charitable challenge,” said Patty Harris, executive director of Camp Quality USA. “Camp Quality USA allows kids with cancer to just be kids again. We know our campers' excitement over their upcoming – heeling' can only serve to bolster their emotional healing.”

Over the years, Heelys has donated to a number of organizations, including sending shoes to the Boys and Girls Club of America, providing shoes and staff to teach kids how to skate at camps for underprivileged youth, and giving footwear to local orphanages in various cities across the country.

“We're excited to be able to help out such a great cause,” said Rick Groesch, vice president of brand engagement for Heelys. “Our products are all about helping kids use their imaginations to open up the world to them. Knowing that we're able to help those at Camp Quality USA be kids and have fun means a lot to us.”
