The Tony Hawk Foundation has hired skateboard-industry veteran Adam Sullivan as Programs Manager. In his new role, Sullivan will work with communities throughout the U.S. to help them navigate the skatepark-development process and the THF grant-application program. He joins Executive Director Miki Vuckovich and Development Director Kim Novick to assist in fulfilling THF's mission of helping young people through the creation of free, quality public skateparks in low-income areas throughout the U.S.
Sullivan comes to THF after five years working in skateboarding media. The Connecticut native served editorial roles with Future Action Sports' Skateboard Trade News, TransWorld SKATEboarding Business, TransWorld Business, and Skateboard.com before joining THF. He has also toured extensively with various skateboard teams and skated many of the country's best skateparks. His varied experience provides a strong background for his role at THF.
Sullivan arrives just in time for the October 1, 2006 Tony Hawk Foundation grant-application deadline. Foundation staff expects more than 100 communities to apply this term. THF grants range from 1,000 to 25,000 dollars and are awarded to public-skatepark projects in low-income areas that best demonstrate that the local skaters are involved in the entire process, that the community has embraced and supports the skatepark project, that significant efforts have been made to fundraise, and that they intend to build a free, high-quality skatepark.
