Sir Nick Faldo, six-time major golf champion, and his design company, Faldo Design, have partnered with Himalayas Golf to launch Golf in Small Spaces. The initiative will make golf more accessible to all who want to play by developing compact golf facilities in urban environments and areas with limited land availability.

Golf in Small Spaces will offer the option of grass, synthetic turf or hybrid grass/synthetic and feature a range of solutions tailored to modern lifestyles, including:

  • Small Space Courses — Single or multiple short holes with central tee boxes.
  • Short Courses — Backyard-style layouts inspired by Dave Pelz’s backyard research and training center.
  • Putting Courses — Premium designs with enhanced playability and additional revenue opportunities.
  • Less Than 18-Hole Courses — Compact 3, 6, 9 or 12-hole layouts.
  • Indoor Practice Areas — Simulators, putting greens and short game zones for year-round practice and instruction.
  • Smart Ranges — Driving ranges featuring smart design elements like water recirculation and automatic ball collection.

“Golf in Small Spaces provides functional and sustainable solutions for golf outside conventional green grass courses,” said Faldo. “I am thrilled to bring this to life with Paul Jansen and Himalayas Golf.”

Jansen, President of Himalayas Golf, emphasized the initiative’s potential impact. “Traditional golf takes a long time, requires a lot of land, and can be intimidating for newcomers. Golf in Small Spaces offers an accessible alternative — shorter formats that need less time to play, less space to build and help players build their skills. It’s about making the game more inviting and sustainable for everyone.”

With shorter layouts that take a shorter time to play, Golf in Small Spaces helps attract new players while keeping existing golfers engaged.

Since retiring from golf, Faldo has dedicated his career to golf course design, establishing Faldo Design in 1991. His design philosophy emphasizes strategic layouts that challenge golfers while preserving the landscape’s natural beauty.

Himalayas Golf, a global golf design and construction company, has completed over 50 projects in over 10 countries, partnering with professional golfers, coaches and industry leaders to create innovative and environmentally responsible golf facilities.
