Golf Galaxy Inc. announced that the Golf Galaxy Golf Tour sponsored by Callaway Golf, PGA Tour Partners Club, and Golf magazine is underway. The Golf Galaxy Golf Tour is the largest network of amateur golf tournaments in the United
States with tournaments taking place in more than 60 cities in 2007.

“The Golf Galaxy Golf Tour is perfect for golfers who score in the 70s, 80s, or 90s and who are looking for some friendly competition,” said Kevin Unterreiner, the tour's national director. “This is truly a tournament for the public golfer — there are no membership fees or dues and no handicaps required. It's just fun, quality, affordable, competitive golf.”

Justin Royer, vice president of marketing with Golf Galaxy, added, “The Golf Tour creates a great environment for the average golfer by allowing them to enjoy the thrill of competitive golf. It's also a great means of extending the Golf Galaxy brand to where golfers want to be the most — the golf course.”

All tournaments are two-person team events played on Saturdays at top local courses with either a best-ball or scramble format. Tournaments are open to all men, women, and juniors who normally score 95 or less for 18 holes. Players receive merchandise payouts in the form of Golf Galaxy gift
cards; up to 50 percent of finishers share more than $1,000 in prizes per event. A year-long Derby Points contest crowns a “Player of the Year” at the end of the season. Tournaments are limited to the first 50 teams that register. For additional information on the Golf Galaxy Golf Tour,
