Jodi Fisher went for a run in the park and took a wrong turn. She felt unsafe and in an unfamiliar, secluded area. Although she made her way back to a more populated area without incident, she was concerned enough for her safety that the experience led her to sleuth for safety products made for runners.
Fisher’s search could have been more fruitful, and she was shocked by the lack of available products that would be “convenient, comfortable and effective options that made sense for runners.” With no product development experience but a strong criminal justice background and personal safety knowledge, she founded Go Guarded, which manufactures self-defense tools for women and active runners.
A standout product in the company’s lineup is the Go Guarded Ring. Slip it on your finger and go. The self-defense ring is made from heavy-duty plastic with a serrated edge self-defense tool built in, and can be worn on any finger. The Medium size fits ring sizes 5 to 9, the Large size fits ring sizes 10-14, and each comes with inserts to adjust the ring size. When wearing the self-defense ring, the blade cover will automatically flex out of the way on impact.
