G.I. JOE’S plans to open a new Bellingham, Washington store in early November. The Bellingham store, G.I. Joe’s 26th store, and eleventh in the state of Washington, will utilize 52,000 sq. ft. of the former Home Base store at 300 E. Bellis Fair Parkway. The building will be completely reconfigured and remodeled to accommodate G.I. Joe’s.

G.I. Joe’s President and CEO, Norm Daniels, said, “Bellingham has been at the top of our list of possible new store locations for the past few years. It took longer than expected, but we finally found the right location and building that will allow us to offer area sports and outdoor enthusiasts our unique combination of brand name merchandise, selection and excellent service. The store manager will be named later, but in keeping with our emphasis on experience, the position will be filled by one of our long-time associates. The Bellingham store will employ approximately 60 employees.”

“The G.I. Joe’s selection makes it possible for the advanced sports and outdoor enthusiast to find the expertise and technical gear they want, yet still allows the recreational or casual outdoor consumer to find what they need and want,” Daniels added.

Daniels concluded, “Consumers can get an idea of what our Bellingham will be like by heading south to visit our Mount Vernon store, which opened in 2005. Bellingham will be our second new Washington store opening in 2006, the other being Kennewick. We continue to look for markets and locations that will fit our business model, and in fact have plans to open stores next year in Spokane, Washington and Boise, Idaho.”
