Manchester City agreed a multi-year partnership making Gatorade the Club’s Official Sports Nutrition Partner.
As part of the deal, the Club’s sports scientists will work closely with the Gatorade Sport Science Institute (GSSI).
Helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research into sports nutrition has been a continual aim of the GSSI team for more than 30 years. GSSI will be looking at ways to help fuel the athletic performance of City players before, during and after training and playing.
Damian Willoughby, SVP of Partnerships at City Football Group, said, “We’re delighted to be teaming up with a global leader in Gatorade. Gatorade’s knowledge and commitment to sports nutrition through innovative scientific research speaks for itself. Our team of sports scientists will work closely with the GSSI team to find new ways to support and fuel our players, both on and off the field. Gatorade is a globally recognized brand with a fantastic relationship with competitive athletes in the United States and all around the world. After a successful Manchester City U.S. pre-season tour in Summer 2017, coupled with our growing presence and fanbase in the U.S. and globally, Gatorade are the perfect partner for us.”
Alongside the collaborative work of the GSSI, Gatorade’s portfolio of sports fuel products and equipment will also be used by the first team during training sessions and on matchdays.
Meanwhile, they will be present on LED boards at the Etihad Stadium and the new partnership will also engage local and global fans with innovative and informative behind-the-scenes video content.
Gatorade Head of Global Marketing Anuj Bhasin said, “Gatorade is excited to partner with Manchester City, to help fuel City athletes to perform at their best through the latest sports fueling innovation. We look forward to a strong partnership with Manchester City by providing the team’s sports health and performance professionals with a variety of sports fueling solutions to help maximize performance through customized sports science services.”
