Gander Mountain is planning a spring reopening of its Johnson City, NY, location.

“It was a sad day when flooding forced our Johnson City store to close a few years ago, so this is a great day for Gander Mountain, for those who love the outdoors, and who enjoy great traditions like hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and camping,” said David Pratt, Gander Mountain’s Chairman and CEO. “We have established a well-known and trusted name throughout New York, and we are thrilled to once again give our friends in Binghamton and the surrounding region more opportunities to experience our top-quality gear and knowledgeable service at great prices.”

The Johnson City store is a 48,000 square-foot facility located at 528 Harry L Drive, just off the Southern Tier Expressway at exit 70. Gander Mountain first opened in Johnson City in 2004, but the store closed in the fall of 2011 as a result of flooding when a tropical storm brought heavy rain to the region. The exterior design and interior layout of the store will reflect many elements of Gander Mountain’s new store prototype, featuring innovative interior design, displays and fixtures. Gander Mountain is expected to bring as many as 70 jobs to the community as a result of the reopening.

“I am pleased to welcome Gander Mountain back to Johnson City. This is very exciting news and a benefit to the entire Triple Cities region,” said Greg Deemie, mayor of Johnson City. “Gander Mountain is a perfect fit with the many other retail businesses along Harry L Drive, and its return proves a commitment to our community and its customers. Gander Mountain is an outstanding example of endurance and determination as a flood survivor.”
