Canadawide Sports, an employee-owned sports and outdoor equipment distributor, has acquired Vancouver-based G3 Genuine Guide Gear (G3). In a media release, the company said the acquisition “represents a new chapter for G3, focusing on revitalizing the brand’s tradition of delivering high-performance gear for backcountry enthusiasts.”

The company did not disclose the terms of the deal.

“Founded over two decades ago, G3 has earned a reputation for producing exceptional gear that empowers backcountry users to explore uncharted terrain,” said Canadawide. “With its integration into the Canadawide Sports family, G3 will benefit from expanded resources and a renewed emphasis on product innovation, customer service and community engagement—all while maintaining its commitment to the backcountry community.”

In August 2024, Deloitte Restructuring, Inc. (DRI) was appointed by the Supreme Court of British Columbia as the Receiver, without security, of certain assets of G3 Genuine Guide Gear, Inc. In its efforts to sell the business, DRI described the company as “a global leader in the ski and snowboard industry, with a particular focus on the backcountry category.

“Known for their pioneering product innovations and values-driven business approach, they have established a strong reputation among consumers and industry partners. Based in Vancouver, BC, the company has distribution partners in Canada, the U.S. and Asia,” the company continued.

On November 8, 2024, the Court approved the Asset Purchase Agreement (APA) dated November 1 between Canadawide and DRI as the Receiver. The Court redacted all financial terms of the transaction in releasing the APA.

“Bringing G3 into the Canadawide Sports portfolio is a natural alignment of our values and our passion for supporting outdoor pursuits,” said Shawn Fuller, President of Canadawide Sports. “We are proud to champion the G3 brand and look forward to building upon its legacy by delivering innovative, high-quality products that backcountry enthusiasts trust and rely on.”

As an employee-owned company, Canadawide Sports said it is “dedicated to revitalizing G3’s operations through community support and a renewed emphasis on service and quality.” Canadawide also stated that G3 products would resume shipping in time for this ski season.
