FUBU Founders Daymond John, J. Alexander Martin, Keith Perrin and Carl Brown last week received the Ernst & Young New York Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the apparel category. Executive Vice President, J. Alexander Martin excepted the award on behalf of his partners.

“Daymond is out in LA right now closing a deal,” Martin said as he began his speech. “We really did not expect to win this award. I am overwhelmed and honored to be considered among so many other gifted and talented entrepreneurs.” The Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award was created by Ernst & Young to recognize outstanding individuals on a regional, national and ultimately global level. All the winners are selected by a panel of judges comprised of local community and business leaders.

During a winners photo taken at the end of the evening, Martin, commented, “You never really know how far you have come until your accomplishments are judged by your peers and you persevere above them.” The four FUBU founders are now eligible for consideration for the 2003 National Entrepreneur of the Year program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced at the gala awards on November 22 at the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Dessert, CA.
