Fruit of the Loom was awarded Bowling Green's 2010 Industry of the Year award. The recognition follows the near completion of FTL's headquarter's expansion that includes the relocation of all sales, marketing and management support operations for its subsidiaries of Russell and Vanity Fair from Atlanta and Alpharetta, GA and Alexander City, AL.

“Fruit of the Loom is a dedicated corporate citizen of South Central Kentucky, having been in our region for nearly 70 years. Not only do they employ more than 1,500 of the region's residents, but they also are supportive of our local communities. We were proud to announce Fruit of the Loom's expansion earlier this year, and now we're excited to recognize them once again,” said Joe Natcher, chairman of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

John Holland, chairman of the board for Fruit of the Loom, said, “We're honored to be named the 2010 Industry of the Year by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. 2010 has been an exciting year for us because of our expansion, and we very much appreciate this recognition. We're proud to call South Central Kentucky home.”

Fruit of the Loom Inc. operates as an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

In July 2010, Governor Steven Beshear visited Fruit of the Loom to celebrate the near completion of the company's expansion of its world headquarters facility. The expansion is expected to be finalized in early 2011, and, when complete, will have created an additional 600 jobs and a $47 million investment in the Commonwealth.

The company's major national and international brands include Fruit of the Loom, BVD, Underoos, Lofteez, Russell Athletic, Russell Outdoors, JERZEES, Spalding, Brooks, Bike, Moving Comfort, AAI, Dudley, Cross Creek, Sherrin, Vanity Fair, Illusion, Bestform, Gemma, Belcor, Value in Style, Lily of France, Lou, Curvation, Intima Cherry, Vassarette® and Exquisite Form Fully.

The Chamber will honor Fruit of the Loom and other local industries at the Industry Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday, October 26th, at Sloan Convention Center.
