Rab, the British manufacturer of technical mountaineering garments, gear and accessories, said Jeannie Wall will be directing the company’s brand-new Backcountry collection. Wall was most recently with Patagonia, Inc., from 1991 to 2007. Most relevant to her new position with Rab, she served as hardgoods buyer for Patagonia retail stores, launched and directed the Endurance Line and co-directed the Alpine Line.

According to Rab, Wall is a highly accomplished ski mountaineer, cross country ski racer and avid backcountry ski enthusiast, and serves as board president of the Friends of the Gallatin Valley Avalanche Center in Bozeman, Mont.

“We’re beyond excited to have an athlete and designer of Jeannie’s caliber join our growing team,” said Matt Gowar, CEO of Rab. “Jeannie’s work and outdoor resume combine to bring the perfect skill set to the design of Rab’s specialized Backcountry line. We look forward to the many contributions she’s sure to bring to our company.”

Rab enters the backcountry ski and ride market in Fall, 2009. At Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, 2009, Rab (booth number: 23035) will debut the Latok Tour Jacket and Pants, constructed from a combination of lightweight and midweight eVent® 3-layer fabric in the jacket (designed with fixed snowskirt) and eVent® fabric combined with Schoeller in the pant.
