Filmar Corporation executives (manufactures of Bula headwear) signed the final papers for the purchase of Merkley Headgear.
Although celebrating its third decade as an authentic brand in the ski resort headwear marketplace, Merkley was recently facing financial difficulties and in the process of liquidation. Filmar Corporation, an accomplished manufacturer and strong financial partner, recognized the attributes of the brand and immediately moved forward with a successful offer to purchase.
Relocating from Toronto to Montreal, Filmar Corporation will continue operating the Merkley Headgear brand as a separate entity, with separate personnel and reliable warehouse operations. Founder Murray Merkley will spearhead the sales, marketing and design functions, and existing Merkley brand associations and practices, such as contractors, suppliers, sales force and customer service will carry on.
Filmar Corporation, based in Montreal, Quebec, functions as a wholesale manufacturer of the Bula brand, private label business (OEM), and is the Canadian licensee of O'Neill Inc. The recent Merkley Headgear acquisition is in line with the existing Filmar corporate objectives and enhances their current industry climate of 'ski', 'outdoor' and 'lifestyle' by adding 'golf' headwear to the collection.
Filmar Corporation has laid out immediate, strategic plans to grow the Merkley Headgear brand as the original authentic 'ski' accessory and will continue branding Bula as a leader in the 'lifestyle' category. Outstanding Merkley orders will begin shipping soon with new orders on the books for immediate shipment.
