Fanatics appointed Ed O’Brien as SVP, business development, professional sports teams.

A 20-year sports and technology industry veteran, O’Brien will lead the efforts to secure new team partnerships and to renew and expand Fanatics’ portfolio of existing North American professional teams. O’Brien will report to Fanatics President of Business Affairs Gary Gertzog and be responsible to extend the reach of Fanatics’ omnichannel retail and merchandising offerings.

Prior to joining Fanatics, O’Brien was head of sports and entertainment for CLEAR, a biometric identity platform. He led the company’s entry into the sports industry which resulted in over 30 sports partnerships. Prior to CLEAR, he worked at NeuLion leading their college and MLB partnerships across e-commerce and paid content groups. He also spent several years at MLBAM (MLB Advanced Media) where he focused on the league’s e-commerce business.
