EXEC: Giant Group March Bike Shipments Turn Negative as Tariffs Hit

Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Giant Group) shifted back into negative territory with March shipments after a big month for the manufacturer in February.

March shipments declined 5.3 percent year-over-year to NT$6.75 billion, reducing the year-to-date (first quarter) to a growth of 4.9 percent to NT$16.9 billion. The March decline comes on top of a 17.4 percent decline in March 2024, and the first quarter increase cycled against a 20.2 percent decrease in Q1 last year.

The 31 percent increase in February may have reacted to tariffs that took effect in March as U.S. brands and factories across Asia moved shipments up to ensure pricing.
