Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Giant Group) saw the tide turn positive for bike shipments in February after five consecutive months of declines. The inversion came in a big way as February shipments increased 30.9 percent year-over-year to NT$5.4 billion, pushing the two-month year-to-date period up 13.1 percent through February to NT$10.1 billion.
The increase in February may be a reaction to tariffs that were to take effect in March as U.S. brands and factories across Asia moved shipments up to ensure pricing.
The Taiwan-based bike manufacturer saw January shipments decline 2.2 percent year-over-year to NT$4.7 billion after falling 7.4 percent for the 12-month period to NT$71.3 billion, compared to NT$76.9 billion in 2023.
