Nix Biosensors welcomed Tom Fowler, former president of Polar, to its advisory board.
Nix Biosensors is a consumer diagnostic company that makes single-use, wearable patches that tell consumers when and how much to drink based on sweat biomarkers.
Fowler is an industry veteran of the health, wellness and sports performance industries for companies including Polar, Nike, Cervelo, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Intel.
Fowler will advise Nix, led by Founder and CEO Meridith Cass, on growth opportunities in the industries where dehydration is most common, including sports, military and labor-intensive work.
“Hydration management is a bigger problem than people realize,” said Fowler. “For more than 60 million endurance athletes in America, tracking hydration is a guessing game, with significant consequences occurring when they guess wrong. With all the other biometric data, hydration has remained the holy grail. Nix has the technology to bring accuracy and immediacy to hydration data that has never before been available.”
Company advisors include Dr. Bob Murray, founder and former director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute; Ian Fitzpatrick, global head of brand strategy, New Balance; and ultrarunner Dean Karnazes.
