Cycling fans worldwide turned out for the Eurobike 2010 trade show in Friedrichschafen, Germany last week as attendance at this year’s marquee cycling event rose 6% from the prior year mark, as 41,482 spectators enjoyed the festivities. Past that, an additional 22,300 cycling fans attended the Sept. 4 show.

The hot topic of this year’s show mostly derived from talk of how e-bike innovations and price hikes of 5% to 10% would impact the 2011 season. German automotive and appliance giant Bosch made a big splash when it noted it would invest €440 million in developing e-bike drive trains and other components.

The company will supply e-drive components to at least 14 bike brands next spring, including Cannondale. Bosch told media at the show that the company expects to produce between 70,000 and 80,000 e-bike kits for the 2011 model year.
