Endeavor Design Inc., owner of Airhole and Endeavor Snowboards, has purchased the Sandbox helmet brand to expand their offering of Canadian snowboarding products globally.
Endeavor has acquired the Sandbox intellectual property from founders Kevin and Melle Sansalone and will launch the Winter 2019/20 collection to retail customers in January.
Sandbox was founded in Whistler in 2004 as a snowboard film production company by Kevin Sansalone. In 2007 they transitioned into making helmets committed to riders’ style and safety. The unique, patented brim of the Classic helmet was an instant success in the snowboard community and immediately established Sandbox as a core, rider-owned brand globally.
“Sandbox offers an exciting opportunity for us to expand our product offering and become more valuable to our customers throughout the world”, explains Max Jenke, founder and creative director of Endeavor Design. “Adding Sandbox compliments Airhole and Endeavor perfectly – as a brand aesthetic and also how our organization is set up. The Sandbox team has done an amazing job of getting the brand to where it is and we’re thrilled to build on their success. Our crew has always worn Sandbox helmets so it’s fantastic that we have brought it under our wing.”
Kevin Sansalone, founder and creative director of Sandbox, had this to say of the acquisition: “Melle and I have learned so much over the last 12 years building the Sandbox brand to what it is today. It’s been an amazing adventure. Throughout this time our foundation has always been authenticity and rider driven. For this reason, we feel Max and the team at Endeavor Design are the perfect fit to carry on the Sandbox brand and take it to the next level”.
Sansalone and his team from Whistler will continue to manage and service the Winter 2019 and Spring/Summer 2019 sales through until August 31st, 2019 when Endeavor Design will take over operations. Under Endeavor Design, Sandbox will expand into new international territories while taking advantage of Endeavor’s growing business in the United States under sales manager Aaron Vujicic. Founder Kevin Sansalone will remain with Sandbox as an ambassador and continue to work on product development.
Sandbox helmets consider rider style and safety. All helmets hold a CE and/or CPSC certification and offer standard and premium constructions. Sandbox focuses on the minimalist aesthetic style that is favored in the Snow, Skate and Wake communities.
“Sandbox is my only choice for look and safety” comments Devun Walsh, pro rider and brand ambassador. “Having a family, I have to ensure I’m being responsible without sacrificing my skate aesthetic.”
