Eastern Mountain Sports will host a grand opening of its newest location in Collegeville, PA on Oct. 22-24. The new, 16,476-square-foot store features a 30-foot indoor climbing wall and a full-service bike shop.

“Greater Philadelphia has been an important market for Eastern Mountain Sports since we opened our first store here in 1979,” said Will Manzer, CEO of Eastern Mountain Sports. “This larger store format is the third of its kind that we've opened in the Philly area since 2007 and we can't wait to share it with our loyal customers who have been so good to us.”

Store Manager Ed Dorbich added, “Connecting to the local community through outdoor sports and conservation has always been important to us. We're excited to build on our existing relationships and to build new partnerships with like-minded organizations.”

A grand opening community celebration will take place Oct. 22-24, with a portion of the weekend's proceeds donated to Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF) began in 1999 as a state-wide non-profit organization supporting the 117 state parks and 2.2 million acres of forest land. PPFF accomplishes this by providing a means for citizens to donate or bequeath money to parks and forests, promoting and supporting local volunteerism, and through recreation, and education.

The grand opening community celebration will feature doorbuster deals, an hourly raffle for prizes such as a kayak and gift cards, a Friday bike ride led by Will Manzer, displays by PPFF and other community organizations. In addition, the Eastern Mountain Sports climbing school will offer free climbing on the indoor climbing wall throughout the weekend, including a climbing competition on Saturday afternoon and kids climbs throughout the weekend.
