Eastern Mountain Sports will host a grand opening of its newest location in Carle Place, NY on Nov. 13, 2010. Located across the street from the former space Eastern Mountain Sports occupied for the past 24 years, the new 13,152 square-foot store features an expanded boat department, a climbing gear test area, as well as a full-service bike shop. These improvements complement an extensive selection of outdoor apparel and gear for backpacking, camping, climbing and hiking.

A grand opening community brunch will take place on Nov. 13, from 10am-2pm, featuring light snacks, live music, special deals, and a raffle for prizes such as a Jamis Allegro 2010 bike, an Eastern Mountain Sports Climbing School lesson, and other great prizes. In addition, the first 50 people through the door on Saturday morning will receive a Smartwool beanie.

“For 24 years, our staff of experienced athletes in Carle Place has been preparing our customers for all kinds of outdoor adventures,” said Will Manzer, CEO of Eastern Mountain Sports. “With more products to choose from and an upgraded shopping experience, we look forward to exceeding the expectations of every outdoor enthusiast who walks through the door of our new Carle Place store.”

Store Manager Judy Palumbo added, “Connecting to the local community through outdoor sports and conservation has always been important to us. We're excited to build on our existing relationships within the local community and to build new partnerships with like-minded organizations.”

Founded in 1967 by two New England rock climbers and based in Peterborough, N.H., Eastern Mountain Sports has 65 retail stores in 12 states.
