Easton-Bell Sports, Inc. announced that Steve Bigelow has been named president – Action Sports, effective immediately. The company's Action Sports business unit located in Scotts Valley, CA, includes the Giro, Bell, Blackburn and Easton Cycling Brands.

Bigelow will report directly to Paul Harrington, president and CEO of Easton-Bell Sports.

Bigelow's appointment to president unifies Action Sports under new leadership. In this role, he will be responsible for continuing the transformation of Action Sports product, sales and marketing functions with a greater focus on connecting the brands to their consumers.

“Steve has a proven track record of delivering results and played a critical role in transforming Action Sports into a more effective operating unit over the past year,” said Harrington. “We are confident Steve can build on this success in the future and elevate each of his portfolio brand’s performance for consumers and retail partners.”

Easton said each of the Action Sports brands leads its respective market.  Giro is the worldwide leader in premium helmets for cycling, skiing, and snowboarding, and has successfully expanded into other product categories including goggles, cycling footwear, and apparel.  Bell Sports has been the preeminent designer and marketer of branded sports helmets and accessories for more than 50 years. Easton Cycling is renowned  for designing lighter, stronger, and better-riding wheels and components. Since 1975, Blackburn has designed innovative and reliable cycling products essential to the riding experience.

“Action Sports' current structure, which was organized by sales and distribution channels rather than by brand, served the business well for the past decade,” said Bigelow.  “I'm looking forward to taking the next step to increase our competitive edge by better understanding what customers, athletes and enthusiasts want and by making them the focal point of Action Sports' brands.”

Bigelow joined Easton-Bell Sports in August 2002 as a Director of Sales, a position he held until he was promoted to Vice President, Sales for Mass Distribution in 2005.  In 2008, he was appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager and in 2010 he added oversight for Specialty Sales to his responsibilities. Prior to 2002, Steve was responsible for sales and marketing of a number of different brands during his twelve years at Revlon, Inc., holding a variety of positions.

Bigelow will be based at Easton-Bell Sports facility in Scotts Valley, CA.
