Dow Microbial Control has officially joined the Bluesign system, a network of textile companies managed by Swiss-based Bluesign Technologies AG to ensure that textile and apparel products, and the chemicals, processes and materials used to make them, are safe for consumers, workers and the environment.

By joining the Bluesign system, Dow seeks to assure textile and apparel manufacturers and brands, and their customers that products treated with Silvadur do not compromise human health or harm the environment. Silvadur prevents unpleasant odors, decay, and discoloration from occuring in textile
fabrics by preventing bacteria from forming or growing in the first
place.

Silvadur is widely used by athletic and outdoor apparel and footwear brands such as McNett Corporation, which announced May 18 that all  microfiber towels sold under the McNett Tactical and Outgo brands will now be treated with Silvadur silver antimicrobial ions.

The technology ensures that unpleasant odors, decay, and discoloration can't occur in textile fabrics by preventing bacteria from forming or growing in the first place.
