Robert Baird, the former president and CEO of Dorel Industries Inc.'s bicycle business, was appointed CEO of A.T. Cross Company, maker of writing instruments, journals, timepieces, non-prescription reading glasses and business accessories.

Baird left Dorel in December 2013 after five years as president and CEO of its then nearly $1 billion-a-year Recreational/Leisure segment, which provide bicycles, parts and accessories to both mass merchants and independent bicycle dealers. According to a release from A.T. Cross, Baird led the Dorel's Sports division, which includes Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Caloi and Sugoi apparel, to 13 consecutive quarters of profit growth,
and drove sales from $640 million to over $1 billion.

Prior to Dorel, Baird was president and CEO of the North American Domestic Appliance
business of Royal Philips Electronics, responsible for brands such as
Norelco and Sonicare.
