Dillard's sales for the four weeks ended February 28, 2004 were $620,979,000 compared to sales for the four weeks ended March 1, 2003 of $610,272,000. Total sales increased 2% for the four-week period. Sales in comparable stores for the four-week period increased 2%.
For the four weeks ended February 28, 2004 sales were strongest in the Company's Western region. Sales performance in the Western region significantly exceeded the Company average performance for the period. Sales were in-line with the Company trend in the Eastern region and slightly weaker in the Central region.
Accessories, shoes and lingerie was the strongest performing merchandise category during the four weeks ended February 28, 2004. Positive sales trends in accessories, shoes and lingerie significantly exceeded performances in other areas. Strong sales were also noted in the women's and juniors and cosmetics categories. Sales in home were slightly below trend, with weaker performances noted in men's and children's.
