Dillard’s, Inc. announced today that merchandise sales (“sales”) for the four weeks ended July 31, 2010 were $425 million compared to sales for the four weeks ended August 1, 2009 of $439 million. Sales decreased 3% in both total and comparable stores for the four-week period.


Sales for the 13 weeks ended July 31, 2010 were $1.358 billion compared to sales for the 13 weeks ended August 1, 2009 of $1.366 billion. Total sales decreased 1%. Sales in comparable stores were unchanged on a percentage basis for the 13-week period.


Sales for the 26 weeks ended July 31, 2010 were $2.8 billion compared to sales for the 26 weeks ended August 1, 2009 of $2.8 billion. Total sales were unchanged on a percentage basis. Sales in comparable stores increased 1% for the 26-week period.


During the four weeks ended July 31, 2010, sales were above the average total Company trend in the Eastern region and consistent with trend in the Central region. Sales were below trend in the Western region. Sales of shoes were significantly above trend during the four-week period while sales in the home and furniture category were significantly below trend.
