Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. announced plans to hire nearly 8,000 seasonal workers for this year’s holiday season, a step back from the 8,600 planned hires in 2023. The retailer reported that steady declines in employee turnover since 2021 led to a decrease in the number of seasonal hires this year.
“Our seasonal teammates play a critical role in delivering exceptional in-store experiences for our athletes during one of the busiest times of the year, and we are thrilled to add nearly 8,000 more this holiday season,” said Julie Lodge-Jarrett, executive VP, chief people and purpose officer at Dick’s.
Dick’s will hold its seventh-annual National Signing Day on October 8 to recruit seasonal employees to work in Dick’s House of Sport, Public Lands and Going, Going, Gone! stores nationwide.
Dick’s indicated it will once again close all of its stores and distribution centers on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, for employees to spend time with family.
