Dick's Sporting Goods is seeking $7.25 million from the state of Pennsylvania for roads, sewers and other improvements for its planned headquarters near Pittsburgh International Airport, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Dick's is already receiving a 10-year, 50% abatement on county and local taxes to help develop the project, the newspaper said.

The new complex will reside on 116 acres owned by the Allegheny County Airport Authority. The new offices will have direct access to an airport taxiway. Dick's employs about 950 at its current headquarters and plans to hire another 700 over the next five years as it continues its expansion. It hopes to open the first phase of its new offices by September 2009.
