Dick’s Sporting Goods will open stores in Silverdale, WA and Melville, NY on Friday, September 30.
The three-day openings at each location will include promotional giveaways and celebrity appearances. Former Seattle quarterback Dave Krieg will be at the Washington location on Saturday, while the New York store will host a lineup of athletes and TV personalities throughout the weekend.
At Silverdale, the ninth Dick’s in Washington and its 660th U.S. store, Nike and Under Armour shops will join the chain’s usual lineup of athletic, outdoor and team sports apparel and gear.
“We’re pleased to be opening our newest Dick’s Sporting Goods in Silverdale, which will enable us to better serve the needs of athletes and passionate sports fans in the community,” said Lauren Hobart, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The Melville location is actually a Dick’s Sporting Goods and a Field & Stream housed under the same roof. Dick’s hopes this combination “will offer the convenience of being able to purchase all sporting goods and outdoor needs at one time, in one location and at any checkout,” according to a company press release.
“Having two great stores under one roof allows us to offer an even greater selection of the most-trusted brands and the highest level of expertise to all athletes and outdoor enthusiasts in the area,” said Hobart.
The Dick’s Sporting goods/Field & Stream combination store format will also have a location opening in Charlottesville, VA on September 30. Giveaways and special guests will mark the opening festivities, which will run through Sunday, October 2.
